Abstract

The structure of nitro compounds and their salts has presented an interesting problem to many chemists. In the special case of an optically active secondary nitro compound it has been found that salts may be produced which still retain optical activity These observations have necessitated a reconsideration of the structures of the salts since the customary structure for the salts possesses a plane of symmetry and would be optically inactive.
