Abstract

The purpose of this grant was to locate a potential funding source to develop a chronic pain support group in the South Bay area that can reduce the barriers that have prevented clients from accessing programs that would help them manage their chronic pain, expand their support network, and navigate the healthcare system. An extensive literature review was conducted to understand what other successful programs have done and to understand what some of the existing gaps in those programs were. If the California Endowment decides to fund this program, it would allow Torrance Memorial IPA to implement this new source of support for a population that is used to being forgotten when addressing chronic illnesses. The program aims to help clients learn skills to manage their chronic pain and find support to combat the isolated nature of living with chronic pain. Actual submission and or funding of this grant was not required for the successful completion of this project.
