Woonsocket Water System
The Woonsocket water system dates back to 1875 with the creation of the Woonsocket Fire Corporation, later changed to Woonsocket Water Works when it was purchased by the Town of Woonsocket in 1885. Soon after, Woonsocket was incorporated as a city in 1888.
Today, the Woonsocket Water Division operates as part of the City of Woonsocket's Department of Public Works, providing quality drinking water and dependable service to the public. Working with operating partner Veolia North America since 2021, the mission of the Water Division is to operate the city's water treatment plant in accordance with all federal, state, and city requirements.
