If you've ever logged on to TikTok, Instagram or Twitter, chances are you've come across a trend that is growing more and more: spoonables. This term refers to a type of presentation of dishes, especially desserts, served in portions ideal for eating in spoons and biodegradable bowls. And a young Peruvian pastry chef is the one who has made them fashionable: Alessandra Penny.

"Before I started selling desserts, when I went to buy one in Lima, I always wondered why no one sold spoonable presentations. The presentations that were available, in glass or acrylic containers, were too small or didn't convince me. Obviously, I think it's nice that when you go to a place they serve you a slice of dessert and plate it for you, but what happens when you are at home, in your bed...
