It has been a difficult 18 months for anyone starting up a business, let alone one dependent on advertising. But when the founders of Pitchero.com featured in the first Bright Ideas column they were full of optimism. Mark Fletcher, 25, and Jon Milsom, 24, had spotted a potentially lucrative niche in the social media space - providing a platform for amateur and semi-professional sports clubs that would be tailored to their needs to self-publish match reports and player stats, upload pictures, discuss performances, recruit members and even engage the opposition in a little light-hearted banter.
