Grupo Soma has filed a lawsuit against Shein for allegedly selling copies of Animale clothes on its platforms. The company accuses the Asian company of approaching its suppliers to copy the clothes produced and sell them at a much lower price.
In the request to the 1st Business and Arbitration Conflicts Court of the São Paulo Court of Justice, Soma has been trying for just over a year to reverse what it considers to be a copyright infringement.
Initially, Soma's suppliers sent the group a document from Shein in Brazil indicating the types of clothes that would be reproduced and the brands from the campaign used by Animale to be sold on the ecommerce site. According to Soma, the clothes were used by Animale in its summer 2024 collection.
