Rosa rosae, de Víctor Botas: una novela histórica sui generis

Abstract

El artículo estudia la codificación en varios niveles de la novela de Víctor Botas Rosa rosae(1992, 2015), una ficción que recupera la antigüedad latina sin ser propiamente una novela histórica, según la definición tradicional del género. Se analizan las tres claves que recorren la narración la autobiografía, la literaria y la política. Su estudio desvela, no obstante, que esta codificación no establece un sistema fijo de correspondencias como el de la novela en clave.

This article studies the multilevel codification of Victor Botas' novel Rosa rosae(1992, 2015), a fiction that recovers Latin antiquity without being properly a historical novel, according to the traditional definition of the genre. The three keys that run through the story are analysed the autobiographical, the literary and the political. Its study reveals, however, that this codification does not establish a fixed system of correspondences like that of the roman à clef.
