ALEXANDER MCQUEEN transformed a warehouse in south-west London into the world's most glamorous Victorian fairground and toyshop last night. There were nodding ventriloquists' dummies, giant teddy bears, cracked china dolls and toy soldiers, all piled up to form a backdrop to a centrepiece comprising an antique merry-go-round .
Models, their faces painted like sad clowns, with black down- turned mouths and tear-stained pallid cheeks, clambered out of the chaos. One wore a delicate, Twenties-line, satin-backed crepe dress, its handkerchief hem fluttering over striped devore tights. Another was in a black ruffled ballgown, her head hidden...
