SOMETHING amazing happened at Malvern’s wonderful Christ Church as the leader of performing orchestra Volante Strings performed a superb rendition of both Piazzola’s Oblivion and Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons.
Eleanor Percy’s fine playing drew comments from those present “that her performance was the best soloist violin virtuosity ever heard in this church” and it was certainly one of the best I have heard in many years of concert going.
Overall, this was a particularly good concert to a good audience in this beautiful church.
This exceptional string orchestra was formed in 1999 by Angela Rickey and Megan Webb at Shelsley Beauchamp.
Percy, soloist as well as leader, was born in Malvern and graduated from Trinity College of Music in 2002 where she studied under Nona Liddell MBE.
