The Netherlands is a cloud computing and advanced research hub within Europe, and this means that the IT market is in a strong position to benefit from the first phase of the AI investment boom. There is already strong momentum for server and public cloud spending related to AI innovation, as well as growing adoption momentum in high labour-cost and digitally intensive sectors. Advances in AI could also have a broader positive impact on the IT market by improving the cost benefit of digital transformation projects and accelerating modernisation and innovation by replacing or refining legacy custom software systems, which also has potential positive spillover for productivity in other sectors. There are downside economic risks that could impact marginal investment cases, but the strategic importance of digital investment means that we expect the IT market to prove relatively resilient in most downside scenarios.
