Six Flags Great America has so many types of roller coasters that surely every enthusiast can find a ride that suits their style.
There are wooden ones and steel ones. Some take you through loops and others shoot you through corkscrews. There are some where your feet dangle and others where you stand. And, to top it off, there's even one that drops you straight to the ground from 200 feet in the air.
Here, then, is a quick look at the major roller coasters that can be found in the park:
The American Eagle: This classic wooden roller coaster features two tracks that run side by side. After an initial 147-foot vertical drop the trains reach speeds of up to 66 mph as they race through a giant helix and over several hills. Built in 1981, the ride lasts two minutes, 30 seconds. Watch out for the first hill, it's a doozy.
Batman the Ride: The world's first inverted, outside-looping coaster features two trains, both suspended from a track with ski- lift style chairs. The track features two vertical loops (77 feet and 88 feet tall), two single corkscrews (each 40 feet long) and a heartline spin with a zero-gravity force that produces a feeling of weightlessness.
