With 2030 just around the corner, it is crucial to assess progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study conducts a systematic review from 2015 to 2022 to analyse the scientific literature focused on the assessment and measurement of the impact of the SDGs within the European Union. A comprehensive analysis of 981 papers was conducted, categorizing them to understand the prevailing topics that are currently receiving attention. The results highlight three key actions for achieving the SDGs: (i) the importance of policy coherence when promoting strategies related to sustainable development; (ii) the need to adjust both the objectives and measurement indicators at the local level; and (iii) the significance of incorporating SDG knowledge into education. These findings aim to raise awareness among researchers, businesses, and policy decision-makers about the importance of achieving the SDGs to ensure the sustainability of our planet across all dimensions.
