PHOTOS: SERGIO OLVERA For the first time in her professional career, Greta Elizondo took on the challenge of performing the dual roles of Odette and Odile in "Swan Lake", during a unique performance presented by the National Dance Company (CND) at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in mid-November.
This ballet classic, known for its technical and emotional complexity, provided the dancer with a platform to demonstrate her artistic mastery and ability to assume two antagonistic characters in the same work. "I was very nervous because the role I have performed most often in my life is that of the white swan; so integrating her counterpart was a complex process, in which I had to unlearn what I knew and approach it from a completely new perspective," said the native of San Pedro.
Despite the pressure of playing both characters, Elizondo gave a performance that amazed many of the audience due to her presence and firmness in each step, especially during the third scene, when she made her entrance to the stage dressed in the emblematic black tutu.
Although Greta Elizondo had already given life to Odette in "Swan Lake", this season with the National Dance Company (CND) marked a milestone in her career as a professional dancer, since it was the first time she played the counterpart of the character, also embodying Odile, the black swan. "Thanks to this work I got my first big roles in the industry, since then, I have embodied many times the pure side of the story. But now, I have the opportunity to do both characterizations and fully explore the narrative," she shared.
