Guatemala’s healthcare system continues to face constraints related to funding, infrastructure, and uneven access to care, particularly in rural areas, which limits overall system capacity. At the same time, greater emphasis on prevention, including immunisation, is beginning to ease pressure on clinical services and improve continuity of care. Health is also increasingly embedded within international cooperation frameworks, supporting gradual gains in institutional capacity and administrative modernisation. Over the longer term, sustained improvements in access and service quality will depend on political stability and consistent execution of health sector reforms.
