Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine whether application of ameliorants can enhance growth and yield of sour eggplant (Solanum ferox L.) cultivated on peat soils, as well as which ameliorants are most effective. The experiment was conducted in Kalampangan Palangka Raya with six treatment levels of ameliorants and four replications using Randomized Group Design method. In addition to no ameliorant was applied, chicken manure at 20 t ha−1, cow manure at 20 t ha−1, goat manure at 20 t ha−1, petrobio at 300 kg ha−1, and dolomite at 7 t ha−1. The results showed that chicken manure was found to be a significant enhancer of plant growth and yield by increasing the number of flowers, fruits, and fruit weight. Chicken manure may be used as an ameliorant in the cultivation of wild sour eggplant in peatlands.
