FEARS that subjects could be dropped at Wellington Polytechnic after its merger with Massey University have been raised by two national organisations representing staff at polytechnics and universities.
The Association of Staff in Tertiary Education and the Association of University Staff yesterday voiced concern over how the merged administrative and academic structure would pan out, and its implications for subjects and staff.
The July 1 merger, which will create New Zealand's biggest university, was announced by Tertiary Education Minister Max Bradford in Wellington this week. Wellington Polytechnic will formally disestablish and be replaced by a Wellington campus of Massey University.
