BLENHEIM'S Sam Stretch scorched to an unlikely victory in the New Zealand triathlonchampionships in Gisborne yesterday despite being stopped for drafting during thecycle leg.
The 21-year-old was in a leading bunch of six riders when he and Napier's MaurieWindell were slapped with one-minute, stop-go penalties 28km into the 40km cycleleg.
It left Stretch a minute adrift of the leaders when he started the deciding 10kmrun. However, he had mowed the bunch down...
