THE black State Insurance Tower at 1 Willis St, known for a sleek interior and exterior, looks like a construction site. But not for long.
The multimillion-dollar commercial property which houses TMP Worldwide, State Insurance and the Bank Of New Zealand, will by February have a new new Willis St frontage and big basement retail space beside the food court.
The aim is to create a retail area on Willis St and to include one big retail shop in the centre, preferably Briscoes which earlier this year was involved in negotiations with Bank of New Zealand.
The building revamp is intended to draw more pedestrians into 1000 square metres of new space on Willis St, 600 sqare metres of which will be taken by BNZ's Wellington branch. Much of the remaining space will be used for a Sony store.
