Abstract

The classic function of journalistic design has been to provide structure, order, hierarchy and legibility to the information. A new function, called discursive, has been incorporated into the journalistic discourse to improve its communicative effectiveness. This function focuses on using the rhetoric of the image to build appropriate visual contexts for the news and improve its clarity, increasing the level of understanding of readers. This work proposes a methodological triangulation to analyze the discursive design and its effectiveness from three basic elements of the communication process: sender (journalistic designer), receiver (readers) and message (journalistic report).
