The Registered Environmental Health Specialist-Registered Sanitarian (REHS-RS) is our most predominant credential. Professionals who hold this credential demonstrate competency in an impressive range of environmental health topics including vector control, water quality, hazardous materials, air quality, the built environment, emergency readiness, and community education. REHS-RS credential holders are also key to ensuring communities comply with local, state, and federal environmental health regulations. The Certifi ed Profession-Food Safety (CP-FS) credential is for individuals who hold food safety positions within their agency, organization, or business. These positions include quality assurance and quality control managers, facility managers, food-safe chemical suppliers, and more traditional food safety positions such as regulatory inspectors and investigators. CP-FS holders can conduct facility plan reviews, evaluate hazard analysis critical control point (HACCP) plans or other risk-based food safety programs, understand the causes and prevention of foodborne illnesses, and analyze and implement sanitation standard operating procedures for safety and effectiveness. Study Guide
We have revised this study guide to reflect the most recent changes and advancements in environmental health technologies and theories as well as the updated Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Food Code. This edition incorporates the insights of nearly 30 subject matter experts from across academia, industry, and the regulatory community, paired with references from more than 30 scholarly resources.

CP-FS Resources
CP-FS Online Review Course
Our online review course has been developed by industry experts from across the various food safety disciplines. The course provides participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to help ensure safe food in any retail environment, whether as a quality assurance or quality control manager, a facility manager, a food-safe chemical supplier, or a regulatory inspector or investigator. This course is designed to help candidates prepare for our CP-FS credential exam.
At the end of the course, there is a practice exam that consists of 34 multiple-choice questions to help participants confirm their understanding of course content and help prepare for the written exam. The online course is made up of 12 self-paced modules.
Virtual CP-FS Exam Prep Course
Our virtual, instructor-led CP-FS Credential Exam Prep Course can help you to prepare for the challenging CP-FS credential exam.
The course is delivered in short sessions over two weeks, allowing participants to test their knowledge and identify areas where more preparation is needed. The course will be held on March 5, 6, 12, and 13. Registration is limited so don't wait to sign up.
CP-FS Guide
Our CP-FS Study Guide has been updated to the 2017 FDA Food Code and includes information and requirements from the Food Safety Modernization Act. It was developed by retail professionals to help prepare candidates for the CP-FS credential exam with in-depth content, an examination blueprint, a practice test, and many helpful appendices. The study guide gives you the information needed to perform well in the kitchen and on the exam, and provides additional references for more in-depth study. The study guide is available in paperback and e-book formats.
CP-FS Flash Cards
We offer more than 195 flash cards (now with pictures!) to quiz you on the information presented in the CP-FS credential exam. We have reviewed the flash cards to make sure they have the most up-to-date information and have categorized them so you can focus on studying the topics you need the most.
We also offer online flash cards that can be accessed on a desktop or mobile device. Study the cards as many times as you want with only a click-no paper required. The online flash cards contain the same content as the printed version.
