Abstract

For the Adaptive Dropped Hinge Flap (ADHF), there exists a gap between the spoiler and the fixed wing when the spoiler is deflected, which affects the aerodynamic characteristics of the airplane. Numerical simulations are conducted on multi-segment wings with a deflected spoiler, focusing on the aerodynamic effects of the gap around multi-segment airfoils with spoiler deflection. The results show that the gap of the drooped spoiler has a significant influence on the characteristics of lift and drag, reducing the lift line slope of the linear segment, and decreasing the maximum lift coefficient. Also, the presence of the gap causes the stall angle of attack to decrease. Additionally, this effect diminishes with the decrease in the deflection angle of the spoiler.
