Abstract

The formation and developmental path of the press in the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan, an indivisible part of Azerbaijan has not been the subject of a separate scientific research up to now. Meanwhile in order to visualize a full picture of the Azerbaijani press, there is a serious need in the study and generalization of the valuable mass media that operate in the regions and enjoy traditions peculiar to them. From this point of view, the monograph “The History of press in Nakhchivan (According to the Materials of the Newspaper Sharg Gapisi)” written by Sura Namidar gyzy Seyid has a particular relevance and great significance. First of all, the presented work is the foremost scientific research work dedicated to the newspaper Sharg Gapisi, which has made a 104-year developmental path, and enjoys a particular place, profile and traditions in the history of the Azerbaijani press. Also, the study of the merits of the newspaper Sharg Gapisi related to the literary community, the formation of the creative forces and the development of literature here acquire relevance as a factor increasing the scientific significance of the monograph.
