On February 10 2025, US President Donald Trump signed an order to introduce 25% tariffs on steel and aluminium imports (effective March 4 with no exemptions or exceptions), further reinforcing the wave of trade protectionism, following the earlier imposition of 10% tariffs on Mainland Chinese imports and an announcement of a 25% tariff on Canada and Mexico, though delaying the implementation for the latter two countries by 30 days.
