New environmental regulations and the requirement for sustainable standards to qualify for public funding have led the Spanish audiovisual industry to operate more consciously over the last five years. Green Shooting- a set of eco-friendly measures implemented in the process of producing audiovisual content- represents a new mindset and a new production model that is taking hold in the sector. Although it is still an emerging practice and followed by a minority within the industry (Asenjo McCabe y Herrero Bernal, 2024) sustainable philosophy and responsibility for one's own impact on the environment have grown. The eco manager-a professional responsible for ensuring the production's carbon footprint is minimized and for overseeing the fulfillment of sustainability plans -is gaining more presence and prominence in productions. This study aims to determine what the optimal training is and what is currently offered to prepare this new professional role in the audiovisual sector, known as the eco manager, through a quantitative-qualitative methodology based on surveys and in-depth interviews with sustainability professionals in the audiovisual industry. The conclusions reveal that implementing sustainability in the audiovisual sector must go hand in hand with training, and that there is a need to create regulated programs for the eco manager role that systematize the necessary knowledge and provide training for those who wish to pursue this task.
