Qué libros debía tener una biblioteca popular: Recomendaciones bibliográficas de la Comisión Protectora de las Bibliotecas Populares (1933-1949)

Abstract

En este artículo, se reconstruye y se analiza el conjunto de recomendaciones bibliográficas que la Comisión Protectora de las Bibliotecas Populares puso a disposición de las asociaciones de Argentina entre 1933 y 1949. Con el objetivo de identificar y caracterizar el modelo de lectura establecido por la institución bibliotecológica, se pone en diálogo el catálogo sistematizado a partir de las reseñas bibliográficas, incluidas las publicaciones periódicas de la Comisión Protectora y el canon literario nacional. Gran parte de los hallazgos apuntan a evidenciar las preponderancias y las ausencias literarias que permiten identificar el sesgo dado al corpus de lecturas pergeñado por el organismo estatal para las bibliotecas populares. Asimismo, en este trabajo se intentó desentrañar algunas de las motivaciones que fundamentan la particular delimitación adherida a la injerencia de los presidentes y a las posibilidades que el circuito editorial disponía para la adquisición de libros.

In this article we reconstruct and analyze the set of bibliographic recommendations that the Commission for the Protection of Popular Libraries made available to the associations of Argentina between 1933 and 1949. With the objective of identifying and characterizing the reading model established by the library institution, we put into dialogue the systematized catalog based on the bibliographic reviews including the periodical publications of the Commission for the Protection and the national literary canon. Many of the findings aim to show the literary preponderances and absences that allow us to identify the bias given to the corpus of readings prepared by the state organization for popular libraries. Likewise, in this work we try to unravel some of the motivations that underlie the particular delimitation attached to the interference of the presidents and the possibilities that the editorial circuit had available for the acquisition of books.
