Abstract

Christian ministers and their families, when they begin a migration process, will face a multitude of crisis scenarios. Their goal of reaching a new territory and from there ministering to new communities not only represents a personal sacrifice, but also involves a significant effort for the family as a whole, as they are exposed to grief, stressors, and generally highly uncertain environments.

In the Bible, there are biblical figures who can typify the migrating minister, as well as the members of their nuclear family. This article examines these figures, paints a portrait, and draws parallels with the current migratory reality of the minister and their family.

There is a clear intention to provide elements of understanding so that the ecclesiastical institution that receives them has analytical and reflective components that allow it to develop effective tools for addressing these issues and helping ministerial families arriving from foreign lands. This facilitates their acculturation and assimilation process in the destination territory and where they will carry out their ecclesial work.

At the same time, this exercise provides insights that can be very useful to migrant ministers and their families, elements that can provide rational guidelines for what they have experienced or will experience during this transition to a new environment for the entire family.
