Abstract
The purpose of this dissertation was to explore the relationship between factors associated such as age at injury, frequency of injury, severity of injury, and coexisting conditions, with anxiety symptom severity. Coping was a moderating variable integrated to explore the effects of the dependent and independent variables. The study was a quantitative design and involved online self-administered surveys. Regression analysis and moderated regression analysis were utilized to investigate the data. The results indicated a statistical significance with age at injury and anxiety, coexisting conditions and anxiety, severity of injury between mild and severe TBI and anxiety. There was statistical significance observed within the relationship of coping style and anxiety symptom severity. There was no statistical significance observed within the relationship of factors associated and anxiety with coping as a moderating variable. These findings support the emphasis of mental health interventions required post injury for individuals who sustained pediatric TBI. Implications for early interventions to focus on recovery through adequate support and individualized treatments are highlighted in this study.
