This is a review of Professor Carmen Escobedo's translation into Spanish of Ranu Uniyal's collection of poems The Day We Went Strawberry-Picking in Scarborough (2018). This translation is entitled El día que fuimos a coger fresas en Scarborough, and was published by Camelot Editions in 2020. The choice of this year was not haphazard, for it was the year of COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns, which created a need for natural settings and looking after one's mental health. These are leitmotifs in Uniyal's poems, whose analysis can be divided into four topics: education and family, the question of gender, spirituality and nature as a source of life. The study of this Uniyal’s poem collection also paves the way to analyse newer ones, which are being translated at the moment and whose reception in Spain would be more than acceptable.
