UN LIBRO Y DOS AUTORES ¿QUIÉN ESCRIBIÓ LA HISTORIA DE LA REPÚBLICA ORIENTAL DEL URUGUAY?

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to question the authorship of one of the fundamental books by nationalist historian Juan E. Pivel Devoto, titled *Historia de la República Oriental del Uruguay* (1945), supposedly written in collaboration with his wife, Alcira Ranieri. Throughout the essay, the concept of authorship is problematized through a qualitative study. To achieve this, a draft written by Ranieri in 1943 is used as a basis, and a comparison is made with the various publications by the Uruguayan historian, both before and after the mentioned work.

El propósito de este artículo es cuestionar la autoría de uno de los libros fundamentales del historiador nacionalista Juan E. Pivel Devoto, titulado Historia de la República Oriental del Uruguay (1945), supuestamente redactado en colaboración con su esposa, Alcira Ranieri. A lo largo del ensayo se problematiza el concepto de autoría a través de un estudio cualitativo. Para ello, se toma como base un borrador escrito por Ranieri en 1943 y se realiza una comparación con las diversas publicaciones del historiador uruguayo, tanto anteriores como posteriores a la obra mencionada.
