horror JANE SLAYRE Sherri Browning Erwin The subtitle for this dreadful romp is 'The literary classic with a blood-sucking twist'. In other words, Erwin has turned Jane Eyre into a vampire novel, which will no doubt please fans of Buffy and the Twilight Saga. The problem is that it isn't well-written. Another problem is that the concept is stale. About a year ago, I noticed on a bookstore shelf that a classic of English lit had been turned into a vampire novel. (I think it was Emma or Pride And Prejudice.) At the time I thought this was rather original, but since then there has been a glut of classics with added gore, and this is just the latest to jump on an increasingly tired and tiresome bandwagon.
