FRIENDS, colleagues and library users have joined with his family in mourning the passing of popular Tamworth library assistant Alan Lofts, aged 64.
Alan began working for Staffordshire libraries and arts service some 36 years ago, firstly at Wilnecote Branch Library, and then at Tamworth Central Library, with spells in Lichfield Library.
Work colleagues said that Alan will be "greatly missed, and fondly remembered for his good sense of humour and cheery disposition," adding that: "He enjoyed working on local history projects and had a love of science fiction books."
At his funeral service at Sutton Coldfield Crematorium, the opening music was Ernie (the Fastest Milkman in the West) and the closing music was the theme tune for Dr Who.
