Abstract The study examines the manifestations of violence, understood in a broad sense, carried out by diferent political agents who acted within the Ávila and Salamanca town councils. Diferences are observed between the rhetoric and the violent or coercive praxis used by the urban nobility both in internal struggles and in their relations with other social groups. [...]the language and discourse emanating from non-privileged groups in society in the social response given to these actions are taken into consideration. By way of the diferent case studies of conficts explored, the discourses on order and law produced by public powers are also examined.
