ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 4 -- United States Patent no. 12,322,030, issued on June 3, was assigned to NINTENDO Co. LTD. (Kyoto, Japan).
"Computer-readable non-transitory storage medium having image processing program stored therein, image processing apparatus, image processing system, and image processing method" was invented by Atsushi Miyagi (Kyoto, Japan) and Kazuhide Ueda (Kyoto, Japan).
According to the abstract* released by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office: "A first texture including first color information, a second texture including second color information, and a third texture including height information are managed. The first color information, of the first texture corresponding to a surface of an object, obtained on the basis of a first correspondence relationship is obtained. A second correspondence relationship which is a relationship between the surface of the object and the second texture is corrected on the basis of a relationship between a line-of-sight direction of a virtual camera and orientation of the surface of the object and the height information specified on the basis of a third correspondence relationship, and the second color information is obtained from the second texture on the basis of the corrected second correspondence relationship. Then, a rendering color is determined using the obtained color information, and the surface of the object is rendered."
