Abstract

Este artículo pretende aportar luz sobre el oficio de Karl Marx como periodista durante su etapa norteamericana, reenfocando el modo de entender a este autor, y apostando de modo novedoso por la ciencia social de la Comunicación como el marco epistemológico más adecuado para entender su vida y obra. Para ello, se realiza una síntesis histórica y un análisis crítico de su etapa como corresponsal en Londres del diario norteamericano New York Daily Tribune, desde octubre de 1851 hasta febrero de 1862.

This article aims to shed light on Karl Marx's work as a journalist during his American period, refocusing the way of understanding this author, and betting in a new way on the social science of Communication as the most appropriate epistemological framework to understand his life and work. To that end, this study offers a historical synthesis and a critical analysis of his time as London correspondent of the American newspaper New York Daily Tribune, from October 1851 to February 1862.
