"Las ojas negras, escrito la letra blanca de plata y horo: reconstrucción de la cultura escrita de Leonor Pimentel a través de su biblioteca

Abstract

En este trabajo utilizamos, como fuentes principales de estudio dos tipos documenta-les el inventario y el testamento, aunque nos centraremos de forma más pormenorizada en el pri-mero de ellos. Ambas son fuentes historiográficas de gran valor para poder reconstruir cómo fue la educación y la alfabetización de algunas mujeres al final del Medievo; ya que estas fuentes docu-mentales son unas de las pocas en las que las mujeres de aquella época podían dejar constancia de sus posesiones, y entre estas se incluyen los libros que tenían y leerían a lo largo de su vida, reflejo de su educación. En este caso nos centramos en los inventarios y las diferentes copias que, de los testamentos de Leonor Pimentel, I duquesa de Plasencia, nos han llegado, para poder re-construir la cultura escrita que rodeó la vida de la mencionada duquesa.

In this work we use, as main sources of study, two documentary types the inventory and the will, although we will focus in more detail on the first of them. Both are historiographical sources of great value to be able to reconstruct what the education and literacy of some women was like at the end of the Middle Ages; since these documentary sources are one of the few in which the women of that time could record their possessions, and these include the books they owned and would read throughout their lives, a reflection of their education. In this case we focus on the inventories and the different copies of the wills of Leonor Pimentel, I Duchess of Plasencia, that have reached us, to be able to reconstruct the written culture that surrounded the life of the aforementioned duchess.
