The refugee reception process is influenced by several factors, such as the attitudes and perceptions of citizens in the host countries. The aim of this study is to identify the perceptions of university students about refugees, in terms of held information, rights, implications, hosting and social, educational and health responses. A questionnaire with open and closed questions was used to collect the data. The data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Sixteen students from the third year of Basic Education and sixteen from the third year of Nursing took part in the study. The results show similarities in perceptions of held information, refugees’ concept, implications of hosting and agreement with social, educational and health responses. Some differences were also found in the perceptions of the two groups, particularly in relation to refugee rights and social, educational and health responses. Implications for research and psychosocial intervention are discussed.
