António Franco Alexandre: Uma Poética de Potência

Abstract

A poesia de António Franco Alexandre envia o leitor para um exercício de leitura armadilhado, porque pautado pela inconstância hermenêutica que dela decorre. O leitor posiciona-se defronte de um texto que a todo o momento o questiona, através de uma operação de constante diferimento face à sua significância.

Numa poesia em que a linguagem compromete tudo aquilo que ela própria nomeia, o leitor partilha com o sujeito da enunciação esta sensação de falência, constatando-se que o “eu” oscila entre a vulnerabilidade que o caracteriza e a árdua tentativa de se fixar. O “eu” sofre de uma inabilidade de se dar ao outro, o que acaba por ter consequências não só na construção da sua personalidade, como também na efetivação de qualquer experiência afetiva, em constante ameaça.

No entanto, a verdadeira carência que se urge suprir está relacionada com o próprio fazer poético, que se sustenta, precisamente, a partir desse mecanismo de rarefação, através do qual se potencia poeticamente. Assim, o “eu” passa de vítima dessa fragilidade ao agente que a promove, acionando diversas metamorfoses em busca da inspiração poética que lhe possa aportar a continuidade do escrito, já que a sua estabilidade só se viabiliza enquanto houver versos por escrever.

O núcleo da obra alexandrina gira, assim, em torno da luta entre presença e ausência, permanência e abandono, fragilidade e força, assentando a sua construção poética num exercício que implica anulação para se tornar potência.

António Franco Alexandre's poetry sends the reader into a trap reading exercise, because it is guided by the hermeneutical inconstancy that results from it. The reader positions himself in front of a text that constantly questions him, through an operation of constant deferral of its significance.

In a poem in which language compromises everything that it itself names, the reader shares this feeling of failure with the subject of the enunciation, and the “poetic I” oscillates between the vulnerability that characterizes it and the arduous attempt to fix itself. The “poetic I” suffers from an inability to give of itself to others, which ends up having consequences not only in the construction of its personality, but also in the realization of any affective experience, in constant threat.

However, the real need that needs to be addressed is related to the poetic work itself, which is sustained, precisely, from this mechanism of rarefaction, through which it is poetically enhanced. Thus, the “poetic I” goes from the victim of this fragility to the agent that promotes it, triggering various metamorphosis in search of poetic inspiration that can provide the continuity of the writing, since its stability is only viable if there are verses to be written.

The core of the Alexandrian work thus revolves around the struggle between presence and absence, permanence and abandonment, fragility and strength, and its poetic construction is based on an exercise that implies annulment to become potentiality.
