Del espacio interior a la plaza pública en la poesía de Gloria Gervitz

Abstract

En este trabajo analizo la relación entre palabra y espacio en Migraciones, el largo poema de Gloria Gervitz (México, 1943-2022). En las diferentes formas que la obra toma entre 1976 y 2020, se va de la palabra íntima (Migraciones, 1976-2004) a la polifonía de los acontecimientos simultáneos en el tianguis, incorporado por primera vez en la versión de 2016. Sostengo que la escena del mercado al aire libre transforma la posición política de la hablante principal como ciudadana, su condición diaspórica en cuanto migrante, mientras forja un entendimiento matizado del yo lírico sobre el papel de clase y género en el devenir de la historia.

In this essay, I analyze the relationship between word and space in Migraciones, by Mexican poet Gloria Gervitz (1943-2022). In the different versions of the work, written between 1976 and 2020, the lyric voices go from intimacy (Migraciones, 1976-2004) to the polyphony of the marketplace, a sphere that Gervitz includes for the first time in the 2016 version of her work. I maintain that the scene of the tianguis transforms the main poetic speaker’s political position as a citizen, her diasporic condition as a migrant, while it shapes a nuanced understanding of the role of class and gender in the unfolding of history.
