SETI-LSC: Apuesta de la Udea Para la Mediación Interlingüística e Intercultural Entre la Lengua de Señas Colombiana y el Español

Abstract

Esta sistematización recoge la experiencia del Programa de Servicios de Traducción e Interpretación en Lengua de Señas Colombiana (SETI-LSC) de la Universidad de Antioquia entre 2021 y 2024. El programa implementó un modelo de mediación interlingüística e intercultural que reconoce la Lengua de Señas Colombiana (LSC) como parte del repertorio multilingüe institucional y primera lengua de las personas sordos señantes en la universidad.

Más allá de garantizar el acceso, permanencia y egreso de estudiantes sordos señantes, el programa impactó los ejes misionales de docencia, investigación y extensión, beneficiando a toda la comunidad universitaria. Además, promovió políticas innovadoras en educación inclusiva y en la gestión académica y administrativa del rol del intérprete y traductor LSC/español.

El estudio adopta un enfoque cualitativo basado en la sistematización de experiencias. Incluyó estudiantes Sordos y oyentes, docentes, personal administrativo e intérpretes/traductores vinculados directamente al programa. La información fue recolectada mediante entrevistas semiestructuradas, cuestionarios y análisis documental de normativas institucionales, y analizada a través de codificación temática.

La investigación busca optimizar los servicios de interpretación y traducción, contribuir al desarrollo de estrategias inclusivas y fortalecer modelos de accesibilidad lingüística en educación superior. Asimismo, ofrece una visión profunda de la interacción entre la LSC y el español en contextos académicos.

Beyond ensuring the access, retention, and graduation of Deaf students, the program sought to impact the university’s core missions of teaching, research, and community engagement, benefiting the entire academic community. It also promoted innovative policies in inclusive education and in the academic and administrative management of the LSC/Spanish interpreter and translator role.

The study adopts a qualitative approach based on experience systematization. Participants included Deaf and hearing students, faculty members, administrative staff, and interpreters/translators directly connected to the program. Data collection involved semi-structured interviews, questionnaires, and documentary analysis of institutional regulations, with thematic coding used for data analysis.

The research aims to optimize interpretation and translation services, contribute to the development of inclusive strategies, and strengthen linguistic accessibility models in higher education. It also offers deeper insights into the interaction between LSC and spanish in academic contexts.
