"Pero cómo escapar de algo que no existe". Fantástico testimonial en “Los himnos de las hienas” de Mariana Enriquez

Abstract

El objetivo del artículo es, en primer lugar, postular una concepción del testimonio en términos de modo, y no de género, literario, para poder reflexionar sobre su posibilidad de combinarse con otro modo, a saber el fantástico. Se llegará así a proponer la categoría crítica de “fantástico testimonial”, funcional para dar cuenta de un extenso número de narraciones contemporáneas que combinan rasgos estéticos y temático del fantástico con una evidente intención testimonial. Como caso de estudio se proporcionará el análisis del cuento “Los himnos de las hienas” de la escritora argentina Mariana Enriquez, parte de su última colección de cuentos Un lugar soleado para gente sombría (2024), para demonstrar como la autora se sirve de tropos narrativos del género de terror para enfocar el trauma de la dictadura cívico-militar argentina.

The aim of the article is, first, to postulate a conception of testimony in terms of literary mode, rather than genre, to reflect on its possibility of being combined with another mode, namely the fantastic. This will lead to the proposal of the critical category of ‘testimonial fantastic’, functional to account for many contemporary narratives that combine aesthetic and thematic features of the fantastic with an evident testimonial intention. As a case study, the analysis of the short story ‘Los himnos de las hienas’ by the Argentinean writer Mariana Enriquez, part of her latest collection of short stories Un lugar soleado para gente sombría (2024), will be provided to demonstrate how the author uses narrative tropes of the horror genre to focus on the trauma of the Argentinean civil-military dictatorship.
