Abstract

Palabras clave Ejército romano; Marina de guerra; soldados romanos; religión romana; Imperio romano Abstract The aim of this study is to analyze the death of Roman soldiers at sea. Specifically, it examines the various ways in which military personnel serving the Vrbs could perish in a maritime context and the perception of such events. [...]we explore the different attitudes adopted to prevent and confront these deaths, both on the part of the Roman state, within the framework of official religion, and by the milites from a more intimate and individual perspective. The analysis is based on literary and epigraphic sources, primarily from the Imperial period.
