This article collects and analyzes two integrated performances: Eolia and Exercises not to get lost, developed jointly by a group or couple of mixed performers (people with and without intellectual disabilities) with the objective of analyzing the potential and feasibility of these performances to promote the empowerment of people with intellectual disabilities participants and promote their inclusion in contemporary artistic fields, following values of equity and social justice. The research method is based on the crossing of two interconnected qualitative methods: participant research and arts-based research (ABR), which allowed us to observe and understand the meaning of an artistic experience by participating in a real scenario. The conclusions confirm the possibilities of integrated performance for the empowerment and recognition of people with intellectual disabilities in contemporary art, constituting itself as an expression to communicate and point out enabling prejudices and transform the social gaze towards the achievement of more inclusive and fairer artistic environments.
