CARLOS FUENTES'İN 'LA REGIÓN MÁS TRANSPARENTE' ROMANINDA KENT OLGUSU

Abstract

Carlos Fuentes'in 'La región más transparente' romam kendisini İspanyolca konuşulan edebiyatta tanınır ve tartışılır bir yazar haline getirirken, yazarın diǧer romanları ile karşılaştırıldıǧında daha az analiz edilen eserlerinden biridir. Bununla birlikte Fuentes'in bu romam Meksika Devrimi sonrası ortaya çıkan siyasal sistemin kent ölçeǧi kullanılarak eleştirisinin yapılması açısından öncü niteliktedir. Bu baǧlamda, La región, Meksika'nın büyük kır romanları dönemini sona erdirir. Bu çalışma, Carlos Fuentes'in 'La región más transparente' románmi, Meksika Devrimine yabancılaşan küçük burjuvazinin başkent Meksiko'yu ana aktör olarak kullanarak mevcut siyasal siteme yönelik eleştirilerini sunduǧu ve yaşanan sosyokültürel bunalımı ele aldıǧı önemli bir eser olarak analiz etmektedir.

While Carlos Fuentes' novel Where the Air Is Clear made him a recognized and debated author in Spanish-language literature, it is, in comparison with his other novels, one of his least acclaimed works. Nevertheless, this novel is pioneering in terms of its critique of the political system that emerged after the Mexican Revolution, using the urban scale as its lens. In this context, Where the Air Is Clear marks the end of the era of major rural novels in Mexico. This study analyzes Carlos Fuentes' Where the Air Is Clear as a significant work in which the author, using Mexico City as the main actor, presents his critique of the existing political system through the alienation of the petty bourgeoisie from the Mexican Revolution and satirizes the socio-cultural crisis experienced in this context.
