Abstract
This case study evaluates the implementation of an AI tutor in a web-based learning management system, examining its effects on student support and faculty workload in health administration courses. Graduate students across multiple courses accessed a chatbot-based AI tutor. Data collection included usage metrics, faculty communication logs, student surveys, and interviews to assess effectiveness. Results showed significant benefits from AI tutor implementation. The system resolved 90.2% of student queries without requiring faculty intervention, providing immediate, personalized responses. Faculty experienced a 60% reduction in routine administrative emails, decreasing from 15 to six per week across three courses. Student satisfaction was unanimous, with 100% finding the AI tutor helpful for immediate support. Response times improved dramatically from several hours to seconds. The findings indicate that AI tutors effectively enhance learning experiences by providing 24/7 personalized student support while reducing faculty administrative burden. This technology optimizes educational resource allocation, improving both student assistance and faculty effectiveness. The study concludes that integrating AI tutors into web-based classrooms successfully balances student needs with faculty time management. Future research should examine chatbot accuracy for complex topics, long-term learning outcome impacts, and integration strategies across diverse educational settings to maximize AI tutor effectiveness in various academic contexts.
