Amrut, an elevated Indian dining, bar and shisha experience that has captured the heart of Leicester's foodies is celebrating two wonderful milestones.
Amrut is marking its first anniversary on October 19, but the celebrations don't stop there, as it has also proudly been awarded the Leicestershire Curry Award for Best New Restaurant in Leicester 2025.
The family-run business was founded by three sisters Shweta Joon, Shivani Joon, and Natascha Joon - who have brought an authentic taste of India to a city that now feels like home.
An incredible first year in business Speaking about Amrut, the sisters said: "We wanted our guests to feel nostalgia, comfort, and connection with every dish, and we are humbled that, in less than a year, Amrut has become a place where people come not just to dine, but to celebrate life's most cherished moments.
"One of our greatest joys has been seeing how our food has transcended cultural boundaries. We are proud that Amrut has become a gathering place for people of many different countries and communities, each finding joy, warmth, and familiarity in our dishes. This diversity is the essence of Leicester, and we are deeply grateful that our food speaks a language of togetherness that unites us all."
The sisters proudly reflected on their business' whirlwind year, which has been blessed with unforgettable highlights. Amrut has had the privilege of welcoming luminaries such as celebrated singer Kailash Kher and Khun Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, chairman of Leicester City Football Club.
Exciting new additions to Amrut's menu The anniversary celebrations will be marked by the introduction of new dishes to the menu and the launch of a series of culinary festivals and special menus. These include a Navratri special menu, a seasonal wellness menu inspired by Ayurveda and fresh local produce, and a festive menu designed to bring people together during the celebratory season.
The food festival series will pay homage to the royal kitchens of different states of India, presenting diners with a regal and diverse gastronomic journey.
Speaking about the new offerings, head chef Dharmendra Singh Gour shared: "Food is more than flavour; it is memory, wellness, and celebration. At Amrut, we want to curate menus that not only delight the palate but also nourish the soul.
"Whether it is the Ayurvedic-inspired seasonal menu, our festive spreads, or the royal dishes of India, every creation tells a story of India's diverse heritage and our commitment to bringing that richness to Leicester."
A new opportunity Expanding beyond the restaurant walls, the family is proud to introduce Amrut Utsav by The Amrut Experience, a new catering vertical.
With Amrut Utsav, you can experience the warmth of Amrut's atmosphere in your own home and events, making special occasions even more memorable with the flavours of India.
Reflecting on this milestone, the Joon sisters shared: "When we opened Amrut, it was a simple dream - to share the food of our heritage, infused with the love of our family.
"Leicester has embraced us with open arms, and for that, we are eternally grateful. This journey is not just ours - it belongs to our guests, our community, and everyone who has been part of Amrut."
