Abstract

Problem. The historical and anniversary context of the functioning of selected scientific societies is shown. The description covers the period from September 2024 to August 2025. The author also comments on the epistemology of martial arts research.

Method. The author’s methodological approach is based on participant observation in the communities of martial arts practitioners and researchers is the main method used here. Additionally, an analytical method was used, which is the content analysis of the literature on the subject and of some other sources.

Results. In reference to several anniversaries, the historical and cultural context of Western civilization, Central Europe, and Poland was indicated. This is connected with the history of the creation and current functioning academic communities. Reference was also made to scientific theory and the theory of knowledge in the martial arts area and fighting arts research.

Conclusions. An appropriate theoretical perspective enables the precise articulation of scientific content, which is facilitated by the establishment of a clear conceptual language. This has an impact on the epistemology and methodology of scientific research in the field of fighting arts. Knowledge of the broader context allows for in-depth analyses. Our periodical tries to take this into account, serving the exchange of the latest scientific thought and knowledge.
