Inche ta Mapuzugun (1 Am Mapuzugun) Propuesta de Subtitulado Para la Serie Documental Wallontu Mapu ni Mogenh (la Vida del Universo)

Abstract

Esta investigación analiza la traducción audiovisual del mapuzugun a través del subtitulado del primer capítulo de la serie documental Wallontu Mapu Ñi Mogen (La vida del universo).El objetivo principal es identificar estrategias traductológicas adecuadas para representar la cosmovisión mapuche en los subtítulos. Para ello, se realizó una transcripción detallada del discurso oral en mapuzugun, considerando su estructura lingüística y discursiva, y posteriormente se analizaron las decisiones de traducción al inglés.

El estudio aborda la importancia de la oralidad en el mapuzugun y cómo su estructura discursiva presenta desafíos específicos para la traducción audiovisual. Se examina el papel del subtitulado intralingüístico como herramienta educativa y su potencial para reforzar el uso del idioma en contextos audiovisuales. Asimismo, se discute cómo la traducción puede contribuir a la revitalización lingüística, asegurando que los subtítulos respeten la estructura y el significado cultural del discurso original. Si bien el estudio se basa en un caso específico, sus conclusiones pueden extenderse a otras producciones audiovisuales en mapuzugun.

Finalmente, se destaca la necesidad de considerar un enfoque cultural consciente en la traducción del mapuzugun, asegurando que la propuesta y su resultado final no solo transmitan el significado original, sino que respete la oralidad y cosmovisión del pueblo mapuche.

This research analyzes the audiovisual translation of Mapuzugun through the subtitling of the first episode of the documentary series Wallontu Mapu Ñi Mogenh (The Life of the Universe). The main objective is to identify adequate translation strategies to represent the Mapuche cosmovision in the subtitles. For this purpose, a detailed transcription of the oral discourse in Mapuzugun was carried out, considering its linguistic and discursive structure, and subsequently the translation decisions into English were analyzed.

The study addresses the importance of orality in Mapuzugun and how its discursive structure presents specific challenges for audiovisual translation. It examines the role of intralinguistic subtitling as an educational tool and its potential to reinforce language use in audiovisual contexts. It also discusses how translation can contribute to linguistic revitalization by ensuring that subtitles respect the structure and cultural meaning of the original discourse. Although the study is based on a specific case, its conclusions can be extended to other audiovisual productions in Mapuzugun.

Finally, it highlights the need to consider a culturally conscious approach in the translation of Mapuzugun, ensuring that the proposal and its result not only convey the original meaning, but also respect the orality and cosmovision of Mapuche people.
