NEW American singer Samantha Cole is very much in the limelight nowadays. Firstly, her debut album, and first single Happy With You is receiving good airplay - including in Malaysia where her album is distributed by Universal Music.
Secondly, Cole was signed up by her country's National Football League to perform the national anthem at half-time in the NFL games, as part of the leagues' New Artiste tour programme for the 1997/98 season.
By the end of the season, she would have performed before 500,000 football fans, and thus gain exposure other peers can only dream about.
Thirdly, when she returns to the United States after her Asian tour, she will be interviewed by an entertainment programme called Hollywood East, besides performing at a prestigious fashion show in New York City.
But being in the limelight is nothing new for the 22-year-old singer from Southampton, New York who began taking voice lessons at 12.
Shortly after she began studying music, Cole said: "With my ear training and sight singing and theory, I'm able to look at a piece of music, know what my range is, and where the notes are."
