Abstract

This thesis explores how urban design can mediate the pressures of global spectacles and local ecologies through adaptive, multifunctional infrastructures. Focusing on the surroundings of Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, it reframes the 2026 FIFA World Cup not as disruption but as a catalyst for ecological and social regeneration. The Living Network proposes pedestrian and bicycle corridors, hybrid infrastructures, and water management landscapes that connect ecosystems, technology, and community life. Developed over three semesters of research and design across different geographies and scales, the work highlights how global events can become opportunities for resilience, ecological repair, and civic transformation.
