Joseph Albo ve Yahudi düşüncesine katkısı

Abstract

Yahudi düşünür Joseph Albo'nun (ö. 1444) Yahudilik için oluşturduğu inanç ilkelerini incelediğimiz bu tez çalışması, giriş, üç ana bölüm ve sonuçtan oluşmaktadır. Giriş bölümünde tezin konusu, amacı, metodu ve başlıca kaynakları belirtilmiştir. Ayrıca Albo'nun hayatı, Sefer ha-İkkarim adlı eseri, yaşadığı dönemin sosyo-politik durumu ve teolojik tartışmaları hakkında bilgiler verilmiştir.

Birinci bölümde Albo öncesinde Yahudilikle ilgili olarak ortaya konulmuş inanç ilkeleri listeleri incelenmiş, özellikle İbn Meymûn'un on üç ilkesinin Yahudi toplumu ve Yahudi düşünürler tarafından alımlanışı değerlendirilmiştir. Bu çerçevede Şimon ben Tsemah Duran ile Hasday Crescas'ın Yahudiliğin inanç ilkelerine yaklaşımları irdelenmiştir. İkinci bölümde Albo'nun Yahudilik için alternatif inanç ilkeleri sunma gerekçeleri ve inanç ilkelerini belirleme yöntemi ele alınmıştır. İnanç ilkelerini kategorilere ayırmasının işlevi ve her bir inanç ilkesine yüklediği anlamlar tartışılmıştır. Ayrıca Albo'nun inanç ilkeleri sisteminde takip ettiği felsefi ve teolojik eğilim ortaya konuşmuştur. Üçüncü bölümde ise Albo'nun inanç ilkeleri sisteminin ve İbn Meymûn'un on üç ilkesine yönelttiği itirazların etkileri tartışılmıştır. Bu kapsamda özellikle Abravanel'in on üç ilkeyi savunusu ve Albo'nun inanç ilkelerine yönelik eleştirisi değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca Haskala süreci ve sonrasında Albo'nun inanç ilkelerinin modern Yahudi mezhepleri tarafından alımlanışı araştırılmıştır.

Sonuç bölümünde genel olarak Yahudi düşüncesindeki inanç ilkeleri tartışmaları, özel olarak ise Albo'nun inanç ilkeleri sistemi hakkında ulaşılan bulgular sunulmuştur.

This dissertation, in which we examine principle of faith formulated for Judaism by the jewish thinker Joseph Albo (d. 1444), is composed of an introduction, three main sections and a conclusion. The introductory chapter gives information about the subject, objective, methodology and primary sources of the study. In addition to these, life of Albo, his work Sefer ha-Ikkarim, the socio-political situation and theological debates of the time in which he lived are explained.

In the first chapter, the lists of principles of faith in Judaism before the time of Albo were analyzed, especially Maimonides’ thirteen principles of faith and its perception by Jewish community and thinkers was evaluated. In this context, the approach of Simeon ben Zemah Duran and Hasdai Crescas to the principles of Jewish faith was examined. Chapter two adresses the reasons of Albo’s creating of alternative principles of faith and his method of determining of these principles. This chapter also discusses the function of his categorizing the principles of faith and the meaning he attributed each principle. Philosophical and theological tendency that Albo followed in his system of principles of faith is also explicated in this section. Chapter three reports the influences of Albo’s system of principles of faith and his objection against Maimonides’ Thirteen Principles. To that end, Abravanel’s defense of thirteen principles and his criticism against Albo’s principles of faith was evaluated. Moreover, the perception of Albo’s principles of faith by the modern Jewish sects during the Haskala period and afterwards was researched.

The concluding chapter presents debates about principles of faith in Judaism in general, and our findigs concerning Albo’s system of principles of faith in particular.
